Cygnet Fun Day

On Saturday 9 June 2012 was the Cygnet School Fun Day, oh and what a fun day it was. Be Blessed was there with all our goodies, necklaces, photo cards, bracelets and hair clips.

This time was the first that I have had a bowl full up with goodies that when sold the money went to CHOC. I have a friend who helps out with the children who have cancer, so I decided that I wanted to support them in this way by selling things for money. I made enough money to buy a keyring to support CHOC.

When you work on your own it is very hard to have a table and look around at the rest of the market, but I did my best. My mom helped me in the morning and my boyfriend in the afternoon.

There were a few treasures I want to mention. Across from my table was a table with lots of ballet type dresses. My mom bought one for my niece in Taiwan. The dresses are made with netting for the skirt and lycra for the body. For R120 the dress came with extra puffy sleeves and a hair clip. Very pretty and well worth the money. Just wish I had a little daughter of my own.

Another table next to me had bags. Handbags and shopping bags and carry bags. They are woven and don’t collapses on themselves, very sturdy. Lots of beautiful coloures. I had to buy one, so I bought a pink and blue handbag. So many people already have remarked on I have only had it 2 days.

The last treasure I would like to mention is a lady who makes brooches and hairclips. The hairclip I bought is really only for decoration as it won’t keep my hair out my face, but it would keep a 1 year olds hair back. She uses all different coloures of felt and makes pretty pictures. I bought a cupcake, but there are all kinds of pictures. You can reach her on madebyk@ymail.com to make orders.

On the field I saw lots of games organized but the different classes. My one friends daughters class organized a bean bag toss. Other classes did fishing with magnets, fake glitter tattoos etc. There was also lots of different food to choose from. Samosas, bunny chow, bore rolls, hamburgers, candy floss and popcorn. Later during the day they had some entertainment with the kids at after care who do hip hop and karate.

A great market and one I am sure to go back to.

About Me

My name is Nicola and I love creating new things. I am a photographer so one of my favourite things is making greeting cards using my original photographs. The cards are blank inside so they can be used for all occasions. I also love trying out all sorts of crafts and enjoy knitting and making beaded jewellery. I’m also busy studying Early Childhood Development and I am working at a Pre School called Makabongwe Methodist Pre School. They are a NPO started by the Manning Road Methodist Church. We serve the community of the Warwick Avenue area of Durban.
