Wight wednesdays – Amy and Mom

To me my cousin Amy represents strength and courage. Jesus, her  mom and family are the most important things to her.

Her mom and grandparents have done so much for her. Her mom  and her live in Underburg. A year or 2 ago she moved to live with her grandparents (my aunt and uncle).  They decided that a schooling down here in Hillcrest would be better for her. She does visit her mom in the holidays and talks to her all the time.

For her to move away from her mom must have been hard. I don’t know what I would do if I had to move away from my mom (even if it is for the better for me). I have never heard her complain but rather she expresses to me the challenges of living with her grandparents and of school. Also her faith in God is one that encourages me to never give up on Him. I love hearing her talk about church and the work she does with the kids.

So in the end all I’m saying is cherish your mother for all she does for you, no matter how big or small, and keep your faith, even when you feel no one loves you remember Jesus does.

Evies 18th

The other day I was invited to a friends 18th birthday party. It was a themed party, Hippie theme. I thought this would be a good opportunity to do some photography. They were delighted to have me take photos for them. We had lamb on the spit, warm outside fire and Beatles for music.

These first three photos I took and love. The group one was taken for me as I am in it.

Wight Wednesday – Being Different Is OK

The other day I was packing a tray of eggs away and noticed as I took the plastic off them there was this one egg that was way whiter than the rest. I stopped and stared at it for a while. The egg looked odd. This reminded me of the story my mom told me yesterday. They were in a breakfast shop in Taiwan and there was this mom and two children staring at my parents (parents being white and they Taiwanese). It just strange that when someone looks different or something looks out of place we stare and judge.  This egg just like my parents didn’t seem to worry. To me that makes a great person. To be different and not seem to care what others think.

Magnality Monday – Gifts Galore

Magnality Monday is happening this Tuesday cause stuff happened yesterday which was unexpected. Anyhow I fetched my parents from the airport at 11:20. They spent a week in Hong Kong then moved along to Taiwan where my biggest brother Peter lives. They had a fantastic week  with him and his two children. When we arrived home first things first lots and lots of gift for me.  Tiny teapot from the in laws, lovely cow cell phone charm from Peter, beads, bags, clothes, scarfs and other stuff from my parents. Far too much to take in all at once. Today I made two necklaces with the beads ( below one made with blue coconut beads and a gold/blue fish keyring) and I am wearing the pants they bought me.

About Me

My name is Nicola and I love creating new things. I am a photographer so one of my favourite things is making greeting cards using my original photographs. The cards are blank inside so they can be used for all occasions. I also love trying out all sorts of crafts and enjoy knitting and making beaded jewellery. I’m also busy studying Early Childhood Development and I am working at a Pre School called Makabongwe Methodist Pre School. They are a NPO started by the Manning Road Methodist Church. We serve the community of the Warwick Avenue area of Durban.
